The Hofklinik has a state-of-the-art sleep laboratory with a comfortable atmosphere just a few steps away from the Hofklinik.
Depending on the patient's availability, investigations in the sleep laboratory can be carried out within two to three weeks. Our sleep laboratory solution allows us to increase our capacities at any time if demand increases.
The sleep laboratory team has many years of experience in sleep medicine and specializes in sleep laboratory clarifications. A specialist in the background is available to the sleep laboratory team at any time at night.
The sleep laboratory is located at Alpenstrasse 1 in Lucerne. The location is very central and just a few minutes' walk from the train station and our farm clinic. The bus station is right in front of the house entrance.
The beds and the bed contents are from the Betten Thaler bed shop in Lucerne and are specifically designed to meet the needs of sleep medicine.
They can be set individually for each patient. The sleep laboratory technology is state-of-the-art. The rooms still exude comfort and therefore do not correspond to the classic hospital character.
In summer, these can each be air-conditioned separately, and in winter they can be adapted to the patient's individual level of warmth.
Each room has a washbasin with a mirror, bathrobe, towels and hairdryer.
The sleep laboratory also meets all requirements for people with disabilities and wheelchairs.
You will arrive at the sleep laboratory in the evening already fed. Our sleep lab technician will be happy to welcome you and assign you to your room. During the following consultation, the procedure for the night-time examination will be explained to you in detail and any concerns or unanswered questions will be clarified in detail. She will be your contact person throughout the night.
You will discuss with the sleep lab technician when you would like to sleep and when you would like to get up in the morning. This agreement is crucial for the rest of the procedure.
After you have prepared yourself for sleep, the electrodes are attached to your legs, arms and head. This is done quickly and painlessly using practiced grips.
Until bedtime, you can borrow a book from our small library and relax in your room. A television is deliberately not available.
You will be prepared for the night at the agreed bedtime. The measurements are taken using electrodes, an oxygen meter on your finger and a microphone/camera.
During the night, our sleep lab technician will monitor your sleep from the cockpit. If you have any concerns during the night, you can simply speak. The sleep lab technician will hear you via the microphone. She is there for you throughout the night.
At first, it can be an unfamiliar feeling in the strange surroundings with the cables. However, nothing can happen to you. In the worst case, an electrode may come loose, which will be reattached by our sleep lab technician.
You will be woken up at the agreed time.
We recommend that you wash your hair because the electrodes are applied with a white paste.
You will be served a small breakfast.
Our sleep laboratory will close at 08.00 at the latest.
